2024 Construction Excellence Awards

In April 2024, IDL was recognized with three Awards through the Northern Regional Construction Association.

Prime Contractor Award – $5 Million to $10 Million

IDL received this award for the CNR Station Renovation project for the City of Prince Rupert.

The CN Rail Station was a Construction Management at Risk Services project to renovate the 1922 CN Rail Station on Bill Murray Drive in Prince Rupert into a craft brewery and restaurant. The project required significant structural upgrades to update the structure to the current building code. Structural upgrades included new foundations to strengthen existing foundations and slab-on-grade and extensive sub-structure installation for existing exterior masonry walls and roof systems. Complete new mechanical and electrical systems and full interior fit-out for new restaurant, brewery and meeting spaces. The existing building was not categorized as “Heritage,” but the core purpose of the work was to maintain the existing structure and facade.

Prime Contractor Award – Over $10 Million

IDL received this award for the Fairview Connector Road project for the Prince Rupert Port Authority.

The Fairview Connector Road project constructed approximately 4.95 km of new road between Ridley Island and the Fairview Container Terminal in Prince Rupert. The road was constructed along Kaine Island’s shoreline using overland and marine fill methodologies. The road alignment included two-way heavy haul traffic, space for two CN sidings (future) and a CN service road between the existing CN Siding and the proposed future sidings. Construction of the works falls within the CN ROW.
