Prince Rupert Port Authority – Fairview Connector Road
4.95 km of new road between Ridley Island and the Fairview Container Terminal in Prince Rupert, British Columbia. The road is constructed along the shoreline of Kaine Island using both overland and marine fill methodologies. The road alignment includes two-way heavy haul traffic, space for two CN sidings (future) and a CN service road between the existing CN Siding and the proposed future sidings.
Work included clear and grub of 4 Ha, overburden excavation, drill, blast and quarry excavation, through cut blasting, process of blast rock for embankment and subtidal fills, ocean dredging, habitat restoration, concrete and CCP culverts, jersey barriers, electrical and telecommunications conduit installations and asphalt paving. Total project volumes exceed 1,500,000 tonnes. To meet schedule, the work is progressing 24 hours per day using both day and night shift.
